According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 1832), the twelve fruits of the Holy Spirit are perfections formed in us as signs of a life in harmony with God. These virtues, as listed in the Catechism, represent the first fruits of eternal glory, maturing in a person.
The 12 Fruits of the Holy Spirit
Charity (Love): Selfless love for God and others, expressed in action.
Joy: A deep, lasting happiness not shaken by negative circumstances.
Peace: A tranquility in the soul that comes from relying on God.
Patience: The ability to bear imperfections and hardships without complaint.
Kindness (Benignity): A willingness to do good to others above what is owed.
Goodness: A disposition to act in a moral and right manner.
Generosity (Generositas): A bigheartedness in giving and sharing.
Gentleness (Mildness): A forgiving, tender temperament.
Faithfulness: Being consistent, reliable, and trustworthy.
Modesty: A humble approach to life, recognizing talents are from God.
Self-control (Continence): The ability to master desires and impulses.
Chastity: Purity in thought, words, and actions.
These fruits differ from the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit and are the direct results of living in the Spirit.
